ZANSKAR VALLEY TREK

1. LAMAYURU TO DARCHA TREK

Route : Sham valley/Zanskar valley.
Grade : Moderate to strenuous.

Description : Lamayuru to Dercha via Zanskar valley trek is the most beautiful and longest Trek in Ladakh. The trek starts from Lamayuru and it enters Zanskar Valley passing through Wanla and the most remote villages of Lingshed. On the 9th and 10th day, one reaches Hanamur or Pishu via Karsha monastery to Padum administrative town of Zanskar valley. After a day rest at Padum you can proceed towards Darcha via Phuktal monastery and high passes (Shikun La 5,100 m). The trek finishes at Darcha village in Lahul & Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh State around 145 kms from Manali.

OUTLINE ITINERARY

Day 01 : Arrival at Delhi international airport and day sightseeing.

Day 02 : Fly Delhi to Leh. Kushok Bakula Airport.

Day 03 : Full day Jeep tour Sightseeing to biggest and famous monasteries of Ladakh at Indus valley.

Day 04 : Half day hiking to adjacent villages of Leh market including sightseeing to Shanti Stupa, Samkar Gompa and 17th century Leh palace.

Day 05 : Full day Jeep sightseeing to 11th century Alchi Choskor Temple the Living heritage of Ladakh and 15th century Likir Monastery of Sham valley.

Day 06 : Alchi to Lamayuru by Jeep.60 kms 30/40 minute drive. Then start trek from Lamayuru to Wanla village (3250m) over Prinkti-La pass (3750m). 2/3 hrs trek

Day 07 : Trek from Wanla to Hanupatta (6 hrs trek)

Day 08 : Trek from Hanupatta to Photoskar across Sir-sir-la pass 4850 mtrs (6 - 7 trek)

Day 09 : Trek from Photoskar to Base of Singge La (7- 8 hrs trek)

Day 10 : Trek from Base of Singge-La Pass to Lingshed village across Singge-la Pass 5090 mtrs (5hrs trek)

Day 11 : Trek from Lingshed village to Snertse across Hanuma-La Pass 4950 mtrs (8hrs trek)

Day 12 : Trek from Snertse to Hanumil across Purfi-La pass 3950 mtrs (5hrs trek)

Day 13 : Trek from Hanumil to Pishu (4-5hrs trek)

Day 14 : Trek from Pishu to Karsha (4-5hrs trek)

Day 15 : Trek from Karsha to Padum 3531 m (2hrs trek)

Day 16 : Half day sightseeing to Zangla palace and Stondey monastery. After Lunch free for relax.

Day 17 : Trek from Padum to Raru (5-6hrs)

Day 18 : Trek from Trek Raru to Kalbok (6 1/2 hrs)

Day 19 : Trek from Trek Kalbok to Purney (4-5 Hrs)

Day 20 : Trek from Purney to Phugthal - Purney (5-6 hrs)

Day 21 : Trek from Purney to Kargyak (7-8 hrs)

Day 22 : Trek from Kargyak to Pankeya (5-6 hrs)

Day 23 : Trek from Pankeya to Zanskar Sumdo over Shingo-La Pass (5090 mtrs,7-8 hrs trek)

Day 24 : Trek from Zanskar Sumdo to Pal-Lhamo (5-6 Hrs)

Day 25 : Trek from Pal-Lhamo to Dracha, then drive to Manali (3 Hrs trek and 135km drive)

Day 26 : Sightseeing in Manali.

Day 27 : Drive Manali to Delhi( 570 kms)

Day 28 : Fly Delhi to Home.

2. LAMAYURU TO PADUM TREK.

Route : Zanskar valley.
Duration : 20 Nights/21 Days.
On trek duration : 15 Nights/16 Days
Grade : Moderate to Difficult.
Season : June to September.

Descriptions: Trek to Padum- erstwhile capital of Zanskar valley start from Lamayuru village of Sham valley 120 Kms from Leh, famous for its Ancient Lamayuru monastery and strikingly beautiful landscape known to tourist by Moon landscape. Enroute, we encounter a succession of isolated villages and several wonderful Buddhist monasteries, notably 11th century Alchi Choskor Temple "the living heritage of Ladakh", Likir, Stongde and Karsha monasteries and Zangla Castle. The trek ends at Padum the capital town of Zanskar valley. While returning back to Leh by Jeep safari, it takes us through remote villages of Zanskar valley over Penzi-La pass towards Suru valley in Kargil which offers grand panoramic view of Nun-Kun Massif and Drang-Dung Glacier.

ITINERARY

Day 01 : Arrival at Delhi international airport and day sightseeing of Delhi city.

Day 02 : Delhi to Leh. Arrival at Kushok Bakula Airport followed by check in at Hotel. Full day rest for acclimatization. Overnight stay at Leh in Hotel.

Day 03 : Full day sightseeing to some famous monastery of Leh region- Shey, Thiksay, Hemis, and Royal Palace Museum at Stok. Overnight halt at Leh in Hotel.

Day 04 : Half day hiking to adjacent villages of Leh market including sightseeing to Shanti Stupa, Samkar Gompa and 17th century Leh palace. Overnight halt at Leh in Hotel.

Day 05 : Full day Jeep tour sightseeing to 11th century Alchi Choskor Temple "The living heritage of Ladakh" and 15th century Likir Monastery. Overnight at Alchi village in a camp/ guesthouse.

Day 06 : Alchi to Lamayuru by Jeep, 60 kms 1-2 hour drive. Then start trek from Lamayuru to Wanla village (3250m) over Prinkti-La pass (3750m) 3-4 hrs trek. Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 07 : Trek from Wanla to Hanupatta (6 hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 08 : Trek from Hanupatta to Photoskar across Sir-sir-la pass 4850 m (6 - 7 treks) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 09 : Trek from Photoskar to Base of Singge La (7- 8 hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 10 : Trek from Base of Singge-La Pass to Lingshed village across Singge-la Pass 5090 m (5hrs trek). Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 11 : Trek from Lingshed to Snertse across Hanuma-La Pass 4950 mtrs (8hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 12 : Trek from Snertse to Hanumil across Purfi-La pass 3950 mtrs (5hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 13 : Trek from Hanumil to Pishu (4-5hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 14 : Trek from Pishu to Karsha (4-5hrs trek) Overnight in a camp/tent.

Day 15 : Trek from Karsha to Padum 3531m (2hrs trek) Overnight in a Hotel/gueshouse.

Day 16 : Half day sightseeing to Zangla palace and Stondey monastery. Overnight at Hotel/guesthouse.

Day 17 : Padum to Rangdum by Jeep 7-8 hrs drive. Enroute grand panoramic view of Drang-Drung glacier and 7th century Sani and Rangdum monastery. Overnight at Rangdum highland in a camp/tent.

Day 18 : Rangdum to Mulbek by Jeep 5-6 hrs drive, enroute visit 8th century giant rock sculpture statue of Avalokiteshvara and nunnery monastery of Mulbek village. Overnight at Mulbek village in homestay guesthouse.

Day 19 : Mulbek to Leh by Jeep 7-8 hrs drive. Overnight at Leh in Hotel.

Day 20 : Free day at Leh.

Day 21 : Leh to Delhi. Transfer to Airport with assistance and later on fly back to your home country.
